about

Basically, one morning I was really hung over, so much so that I woke up at about nine or so in the morning, despite having gone to bed at like five. I was sitting downstairs in the living room, the only one awake, noodling blues chords on my guitar, feeling like I should write a song. Not having any other ideas as to what I should write about, I decided to write a song about what I was doing at that particular moment, which happened to be sitting in my living room, feeling hung over, and wanting to write a song.

lyrics

There's a guy over there
In a comfortable chair
He does not want to stand
There's a guitar in his hand

Hey everybody, have you heard the news?
There's a white guy singing the blues

It's a quarter to ten
He woke up early again
He did not want to wake
But he had a headache

Big hangover from too much booze
There's a white guy singing the blues

He'll be famous someday
But that's a long time away
So he plays his guitar
And dreams of being a star

Grab your coats and grab your shoes
There's a white guy singing the blues

Another white guy singing the blues
