In the year 1885, in Cincinnati, a butcher was murdered by the local mafia because of an unpaid debt. The murder was considered mildly sensational at the time, mostly due to the rather creative way in which it was committed. The mafiosi had removed the head of the butcher using his own tools and displayed it on top of the counter, under a sign which typically advertised the shop's daily specials. The remainder of his corpse was never recovered, although a suspected high-ranking mafia member served a notably delectable main course at the wedding of his daughter the following week. To this day, the butcher's shop has remained abandoned.
