about

If you've ever worked a night job, and I mean a REAL night job, like 11 at night until 9 or so in the morning, you know that there comes a point, usually around four or five in the morning, where really strange ideas start to pop into your head, and you find yourself incredibly amused by things which, under normal circumstances, would not be nearly as funny. This song, as you may have guessed by now, was written under just these very circumstances.

To this day I have no idea where these lyrics came from. All I can tell you is that I was at work one night, when suddenly this song just popped into my head, and I had to write it down. It's taken me awhile to get around to recording it, but here it is.

lyrics

Oh, sweet daddy munchkin,
I seen you outside in the yard
You was lookin' so pale
And you told me a tale
And you said that your luck had been hard

Oh, sweet daddy munchkin
I despise your peen-whackin' ways
I gave you a dime
and you wasted my time
And you set my poor homestead ablaze

Oh, why did I trust ya?
That deceitful munchkin you are
I was blinded by smoke
I coughed and I choked
Meanwhile you made off with my car

Oh, sweet mother Mary
I won't trust a munchkin no more
If I see one again
I'll just smile and pretend
That I don't see him outside my door
