Meet Steve X. Baritone-Sax, 24 year old graphic designer and the father of two young, squalling rodents who were unwillingly thrust upon him due to a combination of bad luck, his wife's adamant adherence to Catholic principles, and his own spinelessness. Growing evermore dissatisfied with his life, he finds himself returning more and more to his adolescent fantasies of being an itinerant blues musician.
"What if?" he asks himself frequently, "What if I could just leave this all behind, take my guitar, and head out on the road?"
Our story begins on the morning of February 12, as Steve awakens to another mind-numbing day in his pathetic, hateful existence as a father to children he can't stand and a husband to an increasingly frumpy woman whose respect for him seems to have decreased exponentially alongside her looks. And to make matters worse, he looks down at his feet and discovers, to his dismay, that he has been stricken with a particularly nasty case of SWEATY BOOT RASH.
