about

Originally titled How Beautiful She Is and entered into the SongFight of the same name. This is also my first ever SongFight submission, and is sort of a prelude to Hollywood Wax in that it is my first attempt at actual songwriting. However, I consider HW to be my first "real" attempt, since it features me playing guitar, whereas this one was nothing but programmed instruments and some childishly simple one-finger keyboard lines that nevertheless took me a thousand takes to get right. It should also be noted that the vocal was re-recorded and sounds SUBSTANTIALLY better than the SF original, which was done in my bedroom on a built-in laptop mic, back when I was still self-conscious about singing while other people in the house might be able to hear me.

lyrics

lyrics:

I found myself an angel
I married her last night
I think she is so beautiful
She makes me feel alright

She stands there in the corner
She doesn't say too much
She's made of shiny metal
And icy to the touch

Late at night the silver beams
Of moonlight through the window came
To permeate the darkness
And I saw her square metallic frame

We met inside my kitchen
When I walked through the door
I said you come here often?
I ain't seen you before

What's your name? I asked her
She gave me no reply
She just stared back seductively
Through unseen vacant eyes

There beside the radiator
On the darkened kitchen tile
I married my refrigerator
She can always make me smile

Every night I come to her
She makes me feel complete
I sleep each night upon the floor
Silent at her feet

Not a word she's said to me
Since I made her my bride
But when she opens up I see
She's full of food inside
